In 2011, Gavin founded Verve Design Group with a simple philosophy: every client deserves the same level of commitment, professionalism and design excellence, regardless of the project’s size or complexity. What began in a spare room at home has grown into one of Queensland’s most respected architectural design practices, driven by Gavin’s unwavering focus on quality outcomes, strong relationships and practical solutions. This vision continues to shape Verve’s culture today, where collaboration, accountability and exceptional client service sit at the heart of everything the team does.

With more than 35 years of experience across the building and construction industry, Gavin brings a unique blend of hands-on trade knowledge and professional design expertise. After beginning his career as a qualified tradesman, he transitioned into building design and graduated from Northern Territory University, receiving the Dean’s Commendation for Outstanding Achievement. His practical understanding of construction, combined with a deep appreciation for quality design, allows him to bridge the gap between vision and buildability.

Known for his ability to unlock challenging sites and navigate complex project requirements, Gavin specialises in developing commercially minded design solutions that balance functionality, budget, operational needs and long-term value. He believes that every project presents its own opportunities and challenges, and that great design starts with understanding the client’s objectives before crafting a solution that works in the real world. This practical, client-focused approach has helped him develop long-standing relationships with developers, builders, franchise operators, business owners and private clients throughout Australia.

As Managing Director, Gavin remains actively involved in projects from the earliest concept discussions through to consultant coordination and project delivery. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of designers and fostering a workplace culture built on teamwork, continual learning and shared success. His leadership style reflects the values on which Verve was founded: ownership, preparedness, creative thinking, integrity and a genuine commitment to helping clients achieve their goals.

Away from the office, Gavin is still a Northern Territory boy at heart. Whether it’s a fishing trip back home, time spent with family, or working on his much-loved classic Ford ute, he enjoys any opportunity to step away from the drawing board and get outdoors. However, it rarely takes long before he’s thinking about the next challenge, project or opportunity to help a client bring their vision to life.
